|Purpose:||This unit standard is intended for managers in all economic sectors. These managers would typically be second level managers such as heads of department, section heads or divisional heads, who may have more than one team reporting to them.|
The qualifying learner is capable of:
1.) Demonstrating knowledge and understanding of diversity in the workplace.
2.) Demonstrating understanding of the reality of diversity and its value in a unit.
3.) Managing team members taking into account similarities and differences.
4.) Dealing with disagreements and conflicts arising from diversity in a unit.

Communication at NQF Level 4.
Mathematical Literacy at NQF Level 4.
Computer Literacy at NQF Level 4.
|Course Objectives:||1.) Identify and solve problems relating to conflict, disagreements and discrimination relating to diversity. |
2.) Work effectively with others in developing and implementing solutions.
3.) Organise and manage oneself and one`s activities when dealing with team members in managing diversity in a unit.
4.) Collect, evaluate, organise and critically evaluate information on the nature of diversity in a unit.
5.) Communicate effectively when dealing with conflict and disagreements arising from diversity in a unit.
6.) Demonstrate an understanding of the world as a set of related systems in recognising the complexity of diversity.
7.) In order to contribute to the full personal development of each learner and the social and economic development of society at large, it must be the intention underlying any programme of learning to make an individual aware of the importance of:
Being culturally and aesthetically sensitive across a range of social contexts when dealing with diversity in a unit.
